Technology College Status
As a Technology College we are committed to applying modern tools to raise standards of achievement and enhance teaching and learning. This is particularly evident in Design and Technology, Science and Maths. However the knock on effect can be seen throughout the college.
We continue to develop a wide range of innovate approaches to meet the needs of the modern learner. This is supported through our extensive computer network which provides an impressive computer to pupil ratio of 1 computer to every 2 students. Multimedia facilities are available in all classrooms and staff explore many different applications to facilitate the delivery of lessons.
This technology extends beyond the school through our Virtual Learning Environment which is available to all members of the learning community 24 hours a day. This contains a myriad of resources enabling all to communicate with each other and access resources beyond the school day.
We use the extensive resources available at the school to offer opportunities to the wider community. Courses are available for adult learners and other schools visit to share good practice or enrich the learning experiences of their own learners.
The College has worked hard to promote an educational culture which is scientific, technological, enterprising and vocational. This is particularly evident in our curriculum which offers a wide rage of opportunities both in school and through our links with external providers. These links provide the means for many students to continue their education post-16 when previously they may not have considered that option.
As a Technology College we have 4 primary goals;
- Offer a strong technological and vocational focus.
- Make innovate uses of ICT to raise standards and enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
- Take a lead role in enriching opportunities in specialist subjects for our students, partner schools and the wider community.
- Build and extend partnerships with industry and commerce to support out technology status.
It is clear that we face an exciting but uncertain future. This is a future where technology is influencing every aspect of our lives. We aim to embrace this technology to give our community the skills and experience to face those challenges with confidence.
